Luxury Stay at Le Negresco Hotel Nice

Last weekend I hopped over to France to attend my first luxury travel show!

The event was on in Cannes but on my first night I stayed in Nice so that I could check out the beautiful Le Negresco Hotel on the Promenade des Anglais.

Le Negresco standing tribute to several eras of French art and culture with over 6,000 carefully selected pieces decorating this impressive establishment.

Royal Salon - imagine having a cocktail party here?! Yes please

The idea is that guests can go and live amongst the art. They can eat, drink, and sleep beside sculptures and famous paintings, and thus have a much more connected experience than if they were to visit a museum.

Nearly all of the works of art were individually selected by art conoisseur and owner Ms. Augier, who now at the age of 94 still lives in the hotel on the 6th floor. One of the things I most appreciated about the hotel is that it has been family owned for over 50 years and it is an independent hotel.

My room was just two below Ms. Augier on the 4th floor, a.k.a the Napoleon floor. Of course I instantly fell in love with the view!

It was just stunning...

I don’t think I have ever seen sea so blue.

It was also unique to be able to see both the sunrise and sunset from one spot, and incredibly that the one spot was my balcony, YES!

No I didn’t sit there all day and take a time lapse video, but trust me I was tempted.

Once I had the compulsory bubble bath I went for a wander around the hotel.

I somehow seemed to have spent a lot of time amongst chandeliers recently, perhaps my recent trips to Vienna and Moscow have a lot to do with it, but this particular chandelier was spectacular.

It is made with 16,800 pieces of crystal and there are only two in the world, the other is in the Kremlin with Mr. Putin.

Ms. Augier seems to have a talent for picking up limited edition pieces as this painting of Louis XIV in the Le Salon Versailles is one of three in the world, the other two are in Versailles and the Louvre.

Art tour complete, I raced back up to the room and threw on my dress for the opening party of ILTM, don’t worry I will share all the champagne filled details later!

ILTM Opening Party in Cannes

The following morning I woke up early to a beautiful sunrise.

Hunger soon drove me down to Le Rotonde for breakfast.

Yes, the theme is circus, what fun!

In typical french style there were pastries a plenty.

Hot food was a buffet and a little bit scarce in terms of choice, I was hoping there would be an a l’carte option or a chef on site making omelettes. Ah well, I did have a sneaky bite of chocolate cake and that was delicious!

Happy and full it was time to say au revoir to Nice and head over to Cannes for more ITLM activities! À bientôt!
