Sky High Dining in Bangkok

Dinner at Breeze Restaurant Bangkok

I've been dying to write this post for a while now..

Welcome to Bangkok!

Mainly because this was the first time I tried DIY cocktails at a restaurant... super cool!!! But I'll get to that in a bit ;)

I left Borneo in the morning and hopped on two planes to before eventually touching down in Bangkok, which has just a slightly different vibe from Borneo...

After braving Bangkok traffic at rush hour I finally arrived at the hotel and met up with my friend Beccy who is currently working in the city and came to join me for a mini staycation!

We spent the first part of our evening catching up and getting ready for dinner at Breeze Restaurant.

Breeze Restaurant is on the 52nd of the Lebua State Tower and has a stunning panoramic view of Bangkok's skyline.

Once we arrived we were joined by the awesome Sasipha!

Sasipha mentioned that we had special cocktails coming our way, but in my head I pictured more of a pretty glass and maybe some bubbles. I was totally not expecting a full on chemistry kit!

Under careful instruction Beccy got to work, adding a dash of this and a pinch of that.

After successfully concocting our first drink things got a bit heated...

We sat there in awe as our waiter slash flame thrower prepared our second cocktail...

And if that wasn't enough excitement, out came a round of smoking sake that was almost like a warm sangria..

Of course we said cheers to what was evidently going to be a great night!

For dinner we indulged in a 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings.. as you do...

Our first course was River Prawn Stir Fry served with Japanese sake rice wine. The prawns were beautifully presented and I enjoyed the kick of the sauce they were coated in.

This was followed by the most vivid of sushi dishes!

Yes that's wasabi sauce! But it wasn't too spicy, in fact they got it just right. It was beautifully thick and creamy with just a hint of spice.

Next up was a rather interesting broth with turkey and mushroom served in the middle. I have never been much of a fan of broth.. and to be honest I'm still not a big fan, the other dishes were far better in terms of flavour.

Switching back to seafood we then had the Crispy Marble Goby, again, the sauce was just brilliant with a sweet and chili combo going on.

My favourite dish by far was the Blackmore Wagyu Grade 9 Strip Loin. The meat was cooked to perfection, it was so soft and the green pepper sauce gave a superb richness to the dish.

Finally to wrap up our night we had Wild Strawberry & White Chocolate Cake that was served in a sugar globe!

Beccy and I were rather perplexed by the globe but it didn't take us long to crack into it and start munching away!

Such a fun night, and even better yet is the news that Lebua are opening a Breeze restaurant much closer to home in Frankfurt.

This place will be a little different to the Bangkok restaurant, instead of the sky high dining experience they take you deep underground but the cuisine is still pan-Asian.

I stalked some of the photos of this place and I am already excited to check it out!

Until next time.. happy travels!
