Country Manor Living in Cork

Hayfield Manor Cork

In keeping with the recent stay-cation theme, over the June bank holiday weekend we went down to Cork to stay in Hayfield Manor.

We had wanted to stay here for ages as it is ranked as one of Cork's top hotels and the bank holiday seemed like the perfect opportunity for a visit.

In my previous post about Afternoon Tea at Hayfield Manor, I mentioned that we had a slight problem with the room initially and I promised to fill you in.

We had booked into a Manor Room and although it wasn't one of their best room types we had looked up the photos before going and it seemed lovely however when we got there we felt it looked nothing like the photos.

The old worldy style had gone too far and the furniture and the carpet was just plain old and looked rather worse for wear.

On the plus side they had left out wine and chocolates as they knew it was my birthday.

In general though we were quite disappointed and perhaps kicked up too much of a fuss when telling the manager how we felt but he handled our grumpiness brilliantly, he was very professional at all times which is definitely worthy of credit as we weren't the easiest guests at this point.

The champagne was definitely not necessary but we'll take it. Thank You!

The manager then very kindly upgraded us to a Grand Suite which was lovely.

I loved sofas in the lounge and the complimentary whiskey was definitely a very generous touch.

I also loved the putting practice set that was in the room.

The bathroom was excellent and I fell in love with the jets in the bath!

Once we had settled in and had our tea we made our way down to the swimming pool and spa.

We paddled away for ages and then had a quick dip in the outdoor hot tub before getting ready for dinner.

For dinner we ventured out into the city itself and went to a lovely Italian restaurant called Il Padrino.

  1. Awww it looks lovely. I live in Cork and have gone to a couple of the local hotels for a night away, but I've actually never gone to Hayfield Manor because it's just too local AND because a lot of locals complain about it! A few people have worked there so you can imagine the silly stories that get tossed around. But it looks beautiful! xx

    1. I know what you mean, I would love to stay a night in some of the hotels in Dublin but it just feels too weird. Which other hotels in Cork would you recommend?

    1. I know right? I couldn't believe they left a whole bottle of whiskey in the room. They handled it really well, definitely a big redeeming factor!

  7. This place looks simply fantastic - the pool area particularly, especially with it's unusual ceiling! The afternoon tea selection looks impressive too :)
